It’s arguably one of the most popular radio events for both the amateur radio community and the public. More than 40,000 amateur radio operators throughout North America will activate permanent and and ‘field’ radio stations to demonstrate ham radio’s science, skill and service to our communities in the United States.

It’s Field Day 2021, with the event kicking-off on June 26th at 1:00pm, and concluding on June 27th at 1:00pm.

In keeping with the spirit of Field Day, JARC members are gearing up for a full weekend of radio operations – both within the clubhouse, in the field, and home locations – socializing with fellow members, other amateur operators in the metro area, and receiving guests.

Clubhouse Radio Operations

This year, the club will have two radios within the clubhouse in operation.

The Flex 3000 – devoted to CW and SSB (a.k.a. phone/voice)

The ICOM 7300 – devoted to FT8/FT4 (digital mode)

All members are strongly encouraged to sign-up for operating, logging, or listening slots by clicking one or more of the following links:

ICOM7300

Flex3000

Please note the following:

Logger slots are only available for SSB, and they are optional.

Listener slots are available only for CW, and they are optional.

Logging (SSB) and Listening (CW) is usually a good way for a person new to HF operations and/or Field Day to get a feel for the equipment, QSO exchange structure, and on-the-air operations.

Field Operations

Several members plan to deploy one or more field stations within the Wally Pontiff Playground land mass.  Plan on visiting those field stations and show your support.

At Home Operations

Field Day rules for 2021 will again allow for members to operate from home using their own call-signs.  When submitting logs, at home operators can reference W5GAD or Jefferson Amateur Radio Club.  Their points will be added in a special designation to the club’s overall score.  Click here for Field Day 2021 Rules.  Scroll to Section 7, Scoring.

Socialize, Food and Drinks

Do some operating, meet club members, and other amateur operators in the community all while enjoying soem food and beverages compliments of JARC.  Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be provided for all Field Day participants; pastries for breakfast both days; on Saturday BBQ Brandon, W5BDW, will prepare pulled pork with buns and baked beans for lunch.  Pizza will be the fare for Saturday dinner and Sunday lunch.
