The Jefferson Amateur Radio Club, W5GAD of Metairie, Louisiana welcomes reduced testing fees to the Greater New Orleans Area Amateur Radio Community for the year 2019. Our new testing fees will be $10.00 for those 18 years and older and FREE* for those 17 years and younger. The JARC VEC is one of only fourteen VEC’s in the US authorized by the FCC of the US Government to electronically submit testing results for amateur radio license exams directly to them.
The JARC VEC has reduced its out of pocket expenses in 2018 and will thus pass that saving on to the public for year 2019. We expect that the elimination of fees for the young will lighten the burdens of first licensing and license upgrades to those possibly least able to afford the costs and to encourage the younger generation to obtain their license and participation in the hobby.
Our cost reductions will NOT result in any delays of the assignment of call signs and, we foresee that new call signs and upgrades will continue to be designated in the FCC-ULS by the morning hours of the next FCC business day following testing. JARC will continue its policy of giving a free six-month membership in the club to those passing their Technician license exam by way of the JARC VEC.
