The Jefferson Amateur Radio Club, W5GAD, wants to acknowledge the individuals who either obtained a new ham radio license or upgraded their operating privileges. The JARC conducted their monthly test sessions this past Saturday morning and Sundayafternoon.

The following individuals passed the Technician Class Examination: Michael Bates, KG5IVA; Edward Muhleisen, KG5IVB; Robert Riddick, KG5IVC; and Robert Turner, KG5IVD. The following hams upgraded to Extra Class: Jeffery Serpas, AG5AD; and Mitch Singley, AG5AE.

As with all JARC licensees, their Call Signs were listed in the FCC ULS the first business day after they passed their examinations…actually listed online before 9:00 am! One of the advantages of testing with an established VE Group, 1 of 14 such groups in the country.

Let’s look for these hams on the air and congratulate them on their accomplishments!

My name is Don Veach (WB5BXG) and I have a couple questions about my expired Ham license. I was licensed as an Advanced class operator but regrettably allowed my license to expire. If I understand the online documentation, I can receive a General class license by 1)presenting proof that I held an Advanced class license and 2) by passing the current Technician exam (element 2). I have a copy of my FCC Advanced license showing an expiration date of 9/29/1997.

From your website, it appears that you have volunteers that proctor the exams. Is there an upcoming schedule for tests?

If I am correct regarding the points above and if my copy of the ham license is adequate proof , would you please let me know.

    Thank you in advance,

    Don Veach

Thanks for your question. The regulations provide for reinstatement of your license once you a show proof of having previously held an FCC amateur radio license and b successfully passing the technician class license test. Once your new call is issued you can petition the FCC to obtain your previous license class, in this case General since the Advanced is no longer offered. You may request your original call sign if it has not been re issued except if it was a 2×2 you would have to obtain an extra to get ur oil

Good luck and let us know how we can help.
